I create enlarged contemporary still life paintings that transform everyday food into objects of desire, using colour, texture, and scale to blur the boundary between advertising and fine art. By reinventing the traditional still life for a contemporary audience, I aim to breathe new life into a historic genre, replacing quiet domestic scenes with bold, immersive paintings that reflect modern visual culture.
Working in watercolour and mixed media, I’m fascinated by the way food is designed to attract us. My paintings borrow the visual language of advertising, using saturated colour, exaggerated scale and intricate detail to create images that feel almost irresistible. I’m interested in the tension between commercial imagery and fine art, inviting viewers to question where one ends and the other begins.
By elevating familiar foods into monumental subjects, I celebrate the beauty of the everyday and the simple pleasures we often overlook. My work explores visual indulgence, abundance, and the psychology of desire, creating paintings that are joyful, immersive, and impossible to ignore.
I want viewers to feel overwhelmed in the best possible way, drawn in by vibrant colour and rewarded by layers of texture and detail. Ultimately, my work invites people to slow down, look closer and rediscover wonder in the ordinary
